Gearbox test bed.

Hi to all,

I have just finish checking over a four speed Bedford gearbox and running it in all gears on the test rig, it is in very good shape.
Mainshaft and layshaft bearings are good and gears and sinco's in perfect health, it needs one new tailshaft seal and it will be ready for anybody who needs a gearbox.
Indyian was kind enough to pick up a gear I bought a couple of months ago down in Chipping Angar and store it for me, I now have arranged for its collection during the summer, and once here and checked out and tested it will be ready for any club member who needs one.
I have also picked up a radiator for the 1.8 Bedford engine if anyone is looking for one.

Doug.

Reliant Gearboxes.

Hi geebee,

Yes I have done these gearboxes in the past and many others, Like Triumph, Hillman, Ford, BMC, Landrover up to ser.3, but the biggest problem in todays world is parts.
No body thinks you should be repairing engine's or gesrboxes anymore, for my last ten years at Renault I did endless courses on all their new engine's and gearboxes and then in 2007 I was told I would not be doing anymore repairs as all faults would corrected by a replacement units.
And all faulty units should returned to be scraped by Renault, or damaged to prevent repair.
My what a wonderful world, and we wonder now why industry is in trouble in Europe and the common market countries.

Doug.

Hi Doug,
Iam looking for a really good vauxall 4 speed for my cf i have toyed with the idea of an overdrive but have come to the conclusion that its just extra things to go wrong.what are the possibilities of getting parts for remanufacturing a good box we have spoken before on the matter a while back i have a so called recon box which has no third gear synchro i also have a vauxall box in bits which has a shattered gear and what looks like worn mainshaft synchro, can you get new mainshaft ?on the other hand it might be better if i could buy a tested box from you for £50 and pay one way carriage if you still have one avaliable i just want an honest cf box with left side turret that has good synchros and does not whine two much let me know if you have one thanks joe

Gearbox test bed.

Hi banjojoe,

I have a second hand gearbox which has been checked visually and run up on the test bed, gears sincros and bearings all seem to be in good order.
Clean quiet change in all gears and the gearoil that was drained off was still quite clean, no metal in the base of the box and all gear teeth in good shape.
Box had not been striped down before,( no marks on the rollpins through the selector forks,) has turret for gearstick on lefthand side and slite damage on outer edge of tailshaft oilseal.
Price £50.00 plus of course what ever your carrage costs would be from here.

Doug.
