Abi Monza 1200 CT caravan..

Just got a Monza caravan a week or so ago.. Still trying to figure it all out. The main question is about wheel bearings. They seem fine, but I'd like a spare set. Would the inner and outer bearing be identical, or not? Is that likely on caravans, or are they more likely to be different? As in, if I get out the outer one, can I just get four of them? Or is it safer to do it proper and remove hubs?

As for caravan brakes, how do they work in reverse? It seems to engage them in reverse, making it HARD to do anything with it in reverse. Do I need to adjust something? Or is life just meant to be hard when reversing a caravan?

The CF tows lovely, the engine is well up for it, but the clutch seems a bit weak. It's hard not to get it smoking, starting on steep hills. I don't suppose there's anything like a heavy-duty clutch that can be fitted, is there? Generally, I've noticed that on both my CFs the clutch is the only weak point in the drivetrain. Go too steep, it smokes. Go too heavy, it smokes. Tow a caravan, it smokes.

Any advice/ideas welcome!

Thanks

Wheel bearings come as a set with both inner and outer .
They are similar to the front wheel bearings on your Beddy.

As for the brakes you will find on the older caravans there is a leaver on the back of the tow hitch which stops the piston pushing the brakes on.........

The clutch only smokes if its slipping and you should adjust the free play .

If after you have adjusted the free play it still slips then you will need to fit a new 3 piece kit....

So the only way of figuring out the wheel bearings I guess is to remove them, right?

Not found a leaver for the brakes yet, but I'll look out for one..

As for the clutch, both my vans do the same, one with a brand new clutch and the other with an old old one. I'm slipping it on purpose, trying not to stall the engine, and in the few seconds until I release it completely it is already smoking.. If I release it faster it will stall. Free play is regularly checked and adjusted.

On my old caravan it was a lever similar to this;
A is with the lever in place for reversing.
B is lifted up for braking as you travel,allowing the damper to apply the brake.

I did read on a forum somewhere that the later models have something attached to the leading brake shoe which disconnects as you reverse.If you don't have the external lever could it be this that's fitted & has seized?:?
