Windows.

Hi to all,

Just in the process of changeing the side windows in my old pioneer, I bought them secondhand from a caravan breaker down in carluke but they were about 3/4 of an inch less in depth and 1/2 an inch shorter in length.
So I have had to make up a wooden mask to reduce the window size and being caravan windows they hidge from the top instead of sliding in an alloy frame,
but a whole lot lighter.
Finally got one in place today after using old car door seals trimmed down to make window seals, the locking latches will be made from a set of old bicycle flat spanners.
So if you keep old junk long enough you will find another use for it one day,
(or so the wife said on my last birthday).

Doug.

Windows.

Hi Alex,

I have converted two top box wardrobe door rails to hold the windows when open, cost just time and a little thought.
Looking for some strips of alloy sheeting now to make some rain ducting for along the tops of the windows.
Ah well it keeps out of the pub, that and no money!

Windows.

Hi to all,

Well thats both side windows replaced now with nice lightweight ones, I was surprised at the weight of the old alloy double glazed windows that came out.
That will make the van a bit lighter at the rear end, I am now looking out for a rear window of the same lightweight design.
Still a bit of tidying up to be done but at least the van is wind and water tight for its winter lay up, and the rest of the work is inside.

Windows.

Hi Alex,

Yes I tried one of those today but it was too narrow, but I am off to Wick's tomorrow to see what they might have in plastic or metal.
A piece of alloy sheeting would be handy so maybe I will be back at the scrapyard to see what they have.

Windows.

Hi to all,

Well that my lightweight windows fitted and sealed against the winter snow and rain, this mild spell of weather has been a great chance to get that work done.
Seeing the differance from the old windows I would now like to change the large rear window as well, but that can wait until the spring.
I still have a fair bit of frontwing panelwork to repair and get rid of the rust, that will keep me busy up until Christmas.
