Reunited

Hi my names John, most people in the Vauxhall World know me. I am a Vauxhall mad nut case as has been said many a time if you cut my arm off it would say Vauxhall through it just like a stick of rock,I own 6 Vauxhall cars mainly Vintage & Classic's plus a Frontera (every day vhl)with a Bedford JC Van thrown in for good measure.I am the organiser off the Vauxhall show at Billing Aquadrome (VBOA)each year and have done this for 15 years.
New to my fold is an old friend I have not seen since I was doing my apprenticeship with Vauxhall Motors in the early 80's , I thought they had all passed in to another life as I had not seen one for 20 to 25 years or so, then last month whilst on e-bay there she was an old flame.
I saw on auction a CF 2 day van, you may have seen her, she was once used by Sir Stirling Moss. This van was in Vauxhall's running shop whilst I was learning my future trade as an Engineer, I used to admire the luxury of this van.
I was fortunate enough to win her and have now got her home, the memories flood back from my youth and the days I used to spend admiring her. Vauxhall's tried these as a direct replacement to the American day vans that were all the rage then.
I intend to get her back to her former glory and use her for her intended purpose as a vehicle for days out either at shows or daily runner.
I have placed a picture of her as my avatar so I hope you can see her, I will get other pictures loaded as and when.

Hello John, I'm so glad the winner of that auction showed up here, as I watched it with interest. A really great van. Welcome to this place. Sounds like you probably know your stuff anyhow, but if not there's always an answer to CF questions here... maybe you can provide some answers as well.

Please post pics of your van... as it is now, and as you go along with the restoration. Most people who are doing a van up start a thread dedicated to it. I have one of those but it largely consists of posts like "Left indicator fell off, stuck it back on with gaffer tape" and "Lots of rust on the wheel arch, covered it up with gaffer tape" etc etc.

Welcome aboard.

( I would also like to add that its very reassuring to see another CF2 admirer on here, as most here are more into the CF and don't have too much love for the superior CF2)

(Sorry, did I just say superior? sorry everyone, slip of the tongue)

Welcome to CF-UK John.

Nice to see the Stirling Moss van has found a good home. You've a few things to do though by the look of it ...

Best of luck with the restoration.

Welcome to an old friend.

A great big WELCOME to our old friend from both of us. Sorry we sort of lost touch over the past few years John, but times here have been a bit traumatic for us. Here's to the future though, with kindest regards from John and Sue.

Hi and welcome, I saw this on sale also, glad its gone to some one who will value it. Now its seems many of us call ours Beddy, but in your case maybe Mossy would be more fitting

Reunited

Hi, many thanks for all your comments, I am really looking forward to getting her on the road. I'm not sure about the Mossey name but I have thought about a sticker on the rear saying something like " As driven by Stirling Moss" or "Yes I am Stirling Moss"

thought i better say hello as well, though you know me (only too well?)

As Karrie posted, from being on our own now there are three of us with CF 2's all within 4 miles of each other. though unlike you with one of the 'Flashest' CF 2's about i have what must rate as the scruffiest!
