Heater radiator.

Hi blights,

Sounds like the control cables or the hot water valve is not closing, and the heater is running on hot all the time.
You may need a new shut off valve for the heater, but check the cable movement first.

Doug.

If the valve has a thermostat (capillary tube from valve that disappears into heater casing) then the thermostat may be shot and holding the valve open whatever the position of the control lever.

If you mean the engine thermostat then that's a different thing - heater valve on later CFs has a capillary type of thermostat of its own to deter air locking in the heater circuit when heater control set to 'cold'.

Heater.

Hi blights,

Are the controls on the dash board down for hot and up for cold, because I have found them to be put on upside down and they will still fit.

To follow on from Doug's suggestion, if the heater controls are attached to the left side of the dash then the temperature control should be on the right and down is hot. The plastic front panel can be screwed on upside-down as well.

Thanks doug and phil I reckon when the dash was done before i got the bus it was put back on upside down as you have suggested im still a bit confused as to why when it blows cold in cab the engine heats up though yet when i allow the hot air to come into the cab the engine temp drops

If the temperature gauge drops when the heater is blowing hot then this confirms that the heater circuit is working fine (i.e. no air lock).

There's nothing to worry about as long as the engine doesn't overheat when the heater blows cold.

I am going to take it on a decent run at the weekend to see how hot it does get as I have tended to put the heater on as soon as it goes 2 3rds up the gauge I know they run warm but I will keep the heater off to see if it goes into the red it just seemed a bit strange that all the time the heater was on hot and allowing the hot air away from engine the temp sits at first notch but once I turn it to cold the temp creeps up. I have seen a few threads on here though where people have same and enjoy the cab heat in winter and put up with it in summer
Cheers for advice Phil
