New old bloke.

Hello, new to the CF but bought one last week so thought it prudent to join a club!
I'm an aircraft engineer by trade so not completely useless with tools, although my wife and some of my boys would probably disagree!

First question as I couldn't find any info, how do I become a fully paid up member?

Second, anyone else in the Lincoln area?

And lastly, I'm off to Santa Pod tomorrow in mine anyone else going to the Retro cars show?

Regards Al

Welcome aboard.

Hi Al,

You will have to drink a lot of red bull to make a Bedford CF fly but it will be fun trying.

Doug.

Thank you for the warm welcome.
Bare with me, I'm not too clever with forums I'm afraid and only just worked out where I am and where I could post.

Sadly, Gerald, that's the 2.3 CF Autosleeper we have, sprung a fuel leak Saturday night which, after a day spent cleaning him up painting and fettling, starting at 05:00 beat me into submission and we loaded the sandwiches into the Saab for the Santa Pod visit instead.

Sophie, that's my wife spent twenty minutes under the bonnet today whilst I was at work and replaced the offending pipework so Gerald will be heading off to Cheshire then down to Cornwall in a couple of weeks for the holiday.

I suppose I should really mention how Gerald became Gerald.
Some years back when we first got married Soph and I had a VW Camper which we sold to offset the mortgage after the birth of the weapon of mass distraction Lucy.

Years later I bought a Sherpa Camper as I'm a bit of a BL fan, as well as Vauxhall/Opel, which sadly is too much for me to repair now I've damaged my back.
So a fateful visit to ebay with a grand burning a hole in my back pocket led me to look at CF's, which I've always avoided due to fuel thirst.
A trip down to Northamptonshire two weeks ago saw us cruise back to Lincolnshire with a beige or grey hand painted CF. Funny how these things are never mentioned in the listings...
The owner though, to his credit was a great bloke and gave me a few quid back for fuel, which as it had three quarters of a tank indicated and I had a jerry can with me, I neglected to fill up.

Yup, I ran out just as I came into the next village from home and the one jerry can wasn't enough to reach the carb.

Well, we got him home after Soph drove off to the petrol station and got a bit more and I got abuse from a local for breaking down and not pushing it to a safer place! That's Lincolnshire for you.

So why Gerald?

Sophie's Grandfather called Gerald had a CF many years ago which was hand painted white.

So that's us, Sophie, Lucy, Al, Suki (The Jack Russell) and Gerald the CF. Just don't ask what the rest of the fleet are called I may not be so polite about Sophie's Volkswagen collection!

HI
Welcome to the forum I am sure you will get used to using it eventually lol. It sounds like your short time of Cf ownership has been eventful already. What kind of autosleeper is it you have is it a coachbuilt or a van conversion

Hi John, Gerald is a van conversion as we're a small family we didn't need a large camper.
