newbie signing in

Hi
I have been looking for a van to do the camper thing and some mobile welding jobs etc.
Looked at Trannys but they are a bit too common :) so decided to broaden my horizons as it were and found this by chance ...

A reg, 1983. It is vin as a 3.5t but front badge is 230, is this right?
Had a look but it need brakes major sorting so need to argue price. Some welding will be needed on front chassis leg and top of wings lower screen area, not simple but not loads so will live with that. Steps and rest of chassis look good and being a luton it doesn't have a lot of body work to worry about :)
It will need all tyres :/ Are rims the same as tranny?
It is a dizzle with 4 speed but non running due to standing but doubt it will be much.
350 is the asking but gonna go in low and see what happens :)
It also has roller shutter on the side as well as the back which might proove useful

Sooooo thats my possible van, any feedback appreciated :)

Hello Grunty, we like a man with ambition here!
Regarding tyres, see whats fitted already- a set of commercials will come in around the £100 mark.
Id also fit a weathervane or telltale on top so you can always make sure you have a following wind!
What an exciting project- as soon as I see stuff like this, I start thinking about the possibilities:

Its just how my brain sometimes works..

Hi
yes I intend to fit it out but I think those two may be a little ambitious for me :)
I will start with a bed above the cab with shelves below to extend the bed width a little. After that i will just put a chair in the corner and await insperation :)
I will need a kitchen and shower/loo seats etc will fit wherever.
Hopefully the roller doors will stay in place for security and stealth

i've got some good slab wheels (Later HD HUB type) and tyres if you are interested, They are 205x14s if you're interested say £15 each?

I dont think the wheels will fit your hubs but the tyres are ok.

Had a couple of hours spare so had a play around. One possibility for you.

Take out the side shutter & panel over the hole.

Install a door and windows & section off the rear.

You could then have the living area at the front with welders etc in the back.

Marvellous work Graham-
If it also had a 'tailgate' (rain cover), a drop down welding bench with vice would be pretty handy.

I just have a thing about fold out bits at the moment. Its like an origami fetish..
