Battery light

Hi all, my battery light is behaving oddly, sometimes (more often than not) when I put my foot on the throttle the battery light dimly comes on and when i put my foot down the light gets brighter i think it is charging alright because everything still works fine and this has been happening for about 2 weeks + there is no sign of battery drain. Any ideas?
cheers Andy

Bright lights.

Hi Andy B,

Check your alternator drive belt is tight and not slipping, the belt drives on its side faces and if it is worn it will be at the bottom of the V in the alternator pulley.
Check the wires connection into the back of the the alternator are tight and not oil coated or wet, if you have a multi-meter you can check the output going to your battery at 2000rpm it should be about 14.5volts.

Doug.
