squeaky crankshaft pulley

Started squeaking constantly about a month ago. Only time it doesn't squeak is under acceleration, when the engine is driving the van forwards. The Squeak's note descends and then stops when i'm accelerating but the moment the engine stops pushing the van the squeak returns as a constant noise. As a consequence I tend to be driving everywhere very fast under constant acceleration, just to be spared the ear splitting racket.

This is definitely the crankshaft pulley. I started by switching the belt, I also switched alternators for a brand new spare I had in stand by. Then I ran her with the belt completely off and the sound was coming from the crankshaft pulley.

I am on the lookout for a replacement at the moment, put a request thread in the parts section here, but I wondered if there were any fixes for my current pulley either long term or temporary.

All suggestions greatly appreciated.

I'll post this info for any future Bedford cf2 owners who have an incurable squeal....

If its not the belt and its not the alternator, then its likely to be the crankshaft oil seals. If you're lucky its only the front seal as this is relatively east to replace once you've removed the grill and radiator. If you're unlucky it will be theseal at the rear or the crankshaft which will require the transmission to be pulled, so I believe, and will therefore be much more work.

A couple of code numbers for the 2.0cih petrol engine...

Oil seal, crankshaft housing (pulley end): 590.762

Oil seal crankshaft housing (transmission end): 694.665

These are European part numbers.
