BEDFORD CF 1974, No Keys?

Hi Everyone!

First post....

We just purchased a 1974 BEDFORD CF autosleeper for £800 as a project to do up over the summer.

Started a blog to keep everyone posted - http://bedfordcf.wordpress.com

The guy we purchased off has no keys but V5 registration.

Is it difficult or expensive to get a new set of locks / ignition?

Thanks,

Tom

That's a nice looking van you've got there.
If you take the ignition switch/steering lock off & take it along to a locksmiths they might be able to find a match for you.
I'm sure there's a thread here about keys & locks.I'll see if I can find it.

There's Dave's blog here that shows how to replace the barrel.
Replacement keys can be bought here if you provide the code.A phone call to them might be better as someone there might know what it is.

Or you could buy a universal ignition switch for dash mount (or a separate bracket fitted to the column)& remove the steering lock part.

you can adapt land rover keys to fit the door handles . and you could do away with the steering lock altogether and fit a racing car style starting and ignition system in place........
