Meeting another Bedford man.

Hi to all,

Brain arrived this morning with his wife and dog in his car to bring his broken gearbox to me and collected a rebuilt one to take back and get his Bedford back on the road for the summer.
So another Bedford stays on the road for a few more years.

gearboxes.

Hi Colin,

Brain made the journey up from Derby took him five hours and should have made it home in time for tea.
After a quick check over of his damaged gearbox I think it still might be repairable but first gear hub and dog teeth are totally shot, maybe the sincro hub as well.
But still got a few gearboxes sitting spare if they are needed.

Strip down time.

Hi to all,

Managed to get Brain worn gearbox striped down this morning and as feared the first gear dog teeth are badly chewed up, the sincro hub springs are very weak and this box has been striped down before going by the amount of sealant inside the box.

Gearbox repairs.

Hi to all,

The gearbox I got from Brain with the faulty first gear has been striped and the first gear and first/second sincro hub has been replaced, so once it is back together and tested it will be ready for reuse.

Ice cream van /pickup.

Hi to all,

Thanks to Brain travelling up with his faulty gearbox he also brought me a gearbox someone sold to him for his CF, and it is a box that is used in the CF but on the cab-chassis produced for later body fitting such as ice-cream vans or pickups.
With a much heavier main-shaft and a different input shaft and short tail-shaft, with the gear-change on the other side of the casing.
Having given this box a quick check-over it seems to be in quite good shape and working order if there is anyone out there in need of one.

Gearboxes.

Hi to all,

The gearbox that was taken in part exchange from Brain his now had all the worn and damaged parts replaced, the last thing to be done is to mount the box onto the test rig and check out bearings and gear shift before it gets someone else out of trouble.
