Edward the Bedford

Hi all....
I've actually 2 Bedfords.... Trying to put them together to make 1 decent one but not quite that easy!
Loads of bodywork going on on the blue bedford. Engine out of the red one waiting to go into the other. Hoping for a miracle and take it from Perth to Cornwall in July with the 6 kids!
Anyone around the Perth area with experience working on bedfords it would be great to get in touch. I'm up for all the donkey work but need bits done with those with experience...

This is raw courage.

Hi Jmca74,

Raw courage indeed, where are in Perth and what do you need to know that is not in the workshop manual.
Are they both 2.3 slant engine's with four speed gearboxes, do they have tandem braking systems, and do they both run?

Steep Learning Curve!

Hi Doujoy

Realising I know very little! My dad was a mechanic but none of his knowledge passed to me - I'm a musician!!
There is only 1 engine and 1 gearbox between them. The better bodywork one has nothing. It was a diesel at one point so may not be straightforward putting the petrol engine in it. Looks like it's not actually a bedford engine, but a ford or something. Have had it running before the engine was taken out. Just got a couple of wings and a bonnet made up from fibreglass so still aiming to get Edward over by July 1. I'm right by the south inch in Perth.

Ed and Bed.

Hi Jmca74,

Having past the south inch on most of its sides I have failed to spot any Bedford's, so you seem to have them well hidden from view while you work to make them road ready for July.

Hi Doujoy

Yep they would be hard to see just now. Both in a shed in NI getting the bodywork done. Engine lying in the hay! Was hoping to get it over by July but too much work needing done. Gutted. Aiming for August now. Will post up a pic when it arrives!

Hidden away.

Hi Jmca74,

Its no wonder I did not catch sight of them then, I did think July was a bit of a stretch in view of the work you had to get done but I am sure you will get there in time for August.
