Oops! Broken heater control

Hello all!

We took Bertie out on his first adventure and not an hour passed before I managed to break something!!! Argh!
I slid the heater control over to COLD and something inside went SNAP! Now the control slides back and forth nicely but now we have no hot air...!! Needless to say Matt wasn't impressed!

Is this something we can fix ourselves easily? I read somewhere it could be the cable??!

THank YoU!!!

Hi,it sounds like the control wire has snapped.it's easy to replace or fix.Take the handles off and remove the facier plate and look to see what has happened.then go on from there.Cheer+Beers,Jim.

Heater control.

Hi Bertie,

If your lucky it will have snapped out of the cable holder on top od the heater under the bonnet, easy to get at and see what you are doing.
But it might have detached from the control lever on the dash, if so you can take the screws out and pull the ends off of the control levers and remove the plastic trim and reattach the control wire.
If the break is in the outer casing of the cable you will have to try in find a new cable, the other cable can be found down in the passengers foot-well on the side of the heater.

If it is just the cable, don't go to the expense of a 'genuine' part.I've seen a pushbike rear brake cable adapted to fit.Wilko's sell those for £1.45

Update!

The wire coiled around the control had snapped! Managed to pull a little more through and wrapped around again, we can't move the control very far now so may need to adjust at some point!

However , the second control (screen/car/boost) now only works when it's pulled out which from memory this was only a booster so not sure why that's stopped working normally now!!

Thankfully we won't need the heater this week as it's going to be a hot one!!!
