Converting back of Bedford CF 250 into travelling seats with isofix bases

Wanted to know if anyone has made any changes to the rear of their Bedford CF to add more travelling seats with either lap belts/3 point seat belts/or isofix children's car seat system?

We have a CF250 and are trying to figure out how to travel in it (safely and legally) with two kids, both under 3 years old.

Any suggestions/ideas would be much appreciated.

Rear seats with belts.

Hi Mimosa,

The only way I would do this would be to fit swivel seat bases so that they could be turned to table or front facing and fitted with three point seat belt points through the floor onto the chassis.
A lot of work and not cheap to do but it would give you the best of both worlds.

I suppose you could look for some seats with in-built seat belt retractors, like you find in minibusses nowadays. Attaching a loop to a pillar in a CF will fail as the pillars aren't designed for that kind of load in a crash. Once you've got a suitable seat, you then need to do a lot of welding and reinforcing to the floor, can't just bolt in anywhere as the bolts would just rip out. I've witnessed crash tests at work for rear seat belt pull, and the loads are huge. I'd advise doing what I do - 1 child in a full car seat in the front, the other two in car seats facing backwards on the bench seats with a pile of stuff between them (awning on the cool box) to stop them falling inwards. Then if there was a crash, at least they are loading up against the back of the front seats. Second adult in the remainign bench seat spot with no below or protection. If you're adamant you really want full 21st century safety systems, buy a VW T5....
