replace or repair weeping brake cylinder

I've got a weeping cylinder, just a tiny amount of fluid leaking out but obviously needs doing. I've seen repair kits on ebay, how easy are they to fit the new seals and how effective are they? Is it just the seals that go in cylinders or could other components be worn? I assume that if just the seals need doing, you could change them without removing the cylinder making it quite an easy job?
Thanks all

Wheel cylinders.

Hi,

You are better to remove the leaking cylinder and clean it out because the bore could be the reason for the seals being damaged, a good wash out and a clean and rub through with a strip of emery paper and then another wash before fitting the new seals with red brake grease.

Hi Dave,to make the job simple ,clamp the flexy pipe first, then remove shoes and the cylinder.Strip the cylinder and clean inside with fine emery, replace the seals put all together and bleed the brake.Cheers Jim.
