The leak season.

Hi to all,

A persistent drip, I am sure you have all met one, mine is in the campervan no I have not rented it out, but I have cured this leak every winter and after a bit of rain followed by some frost its back!
So this time I have set about it by resealing the roof outside and cutting a piece out of the ceiling inside, and would you believe it, its dripping off of a screw which is smaller than the hole that it is screwed into.
So now it is wait and see time, which will not be long because it is raining again!!

The point of entry.

Hi to all,

Tracing where the water is coming into the campervan instead of sealing up where the drip is, and that is not how the last owner chose to work on stopping the leak, he has just kept on stuffing sealer into the leaking joint.
So the answer was to remove complete sections of the inner roof lining to trace the point of entry, which turned out to be quite a distance from the point of the drip.
After making good the repair I am letting the weather do the testing, no water over the last two hours but I will leave the panels off over night and check again in the morning, more rain forecast so we shall see if the repairs have been a success.

Leak points.

Hi to all,

Why do leaks always have to be above sleeping area's, protection is in place until it stops raining, and it will one day!

Leaks.

Hi to all,

If you are unlucky enough to have a leak but lucky enough to find it you might think you are doing great only to find that what you have cured is only one in the same area as another one, this is complicated by the fact that both leaks have been draining into the same area of the roof lining.
The rain certainly has shown me I have a leak but then you need it to be dry long enough to make a repair once you have got that sorted the next downpour shows you there is more than one.
So I think recovering the whole roof will be the best way to cure the problem instead of the search and patch method that I have used so far, the cost will be higher but that must be the price of success.

Leak repairs.

Hi to all,

Today I made a start to recovering the whole roof of the Bedford and all went well until babysitting time, but I got two full lengths of adhesive flash-band up into place and heated to melt the tar and seal it down.
But that is only a quarter of the roof area covered and since the nice dry weather has turned into storm Frank this evening I doubt I will get another chance anytime soon.
Seeing it started and in place on that first section tells me it is the best way to go and a lot tidier than the search and patch method I have used over the past few years.
