Bedford cf 350 won't start after sitting 4 months

Hi,
I have a Cf 350 with slant engine and pioneer body, 1982 'x' reg.
So I parked it up and went away to work for 4 months.
I came home, tried to start it and it was silent, not even a click from starter motor.
I have ignition lights, and it will start when I bridge the starter.
So is it my starter solenoid?
Any help greatly appreciated
Kenny

My first guess would be flat battery. There might just be enough to light up the ignition bulbs but not enough to turn it over.

Hello. If you can start it by bridging the small terminal on the solenoid to a positive then that would eliminate the solenoid and point toward either the ignition switch or the wire from the ignition to the solenoid.

Corrosive dampness.

Hi Kendo mac,

The old Bedford's are famous corrosive fuse boxes and fuse box connections, what happens when you switch on full beam lights, if they go out when you turn the key it is most likely battery lack of power, if on lights go back to that fuse box.
