Beatrix - Bedford CF250 Autosleeper

Hi,

We're new to the forum and have so far found it really helpful so thank you :)

We have recently purchased a 1980 Bedford CF250 Autosleeper, she needs a bit of work which we've started to do but are really struggling to find a couple of things and are wondering if anyone could help.

One of the previous owners seems to have added in an extra window by the bed over the cab as I can't find any other vans with this window. I have tried a few companies but am really struggling to find a replacement and it has a few cracks in which are causing her to leak. She also has an old fiamma vent measuring 360mm x 360mm which I am finding a replacement for nearly impossible as they no longer make them - could I use another make with the same measurements? The other thing that she needs is seals for the cab windows, I've contacted seals direct and they dont do the ones that she needs. Any ideas?

The rest of it is hopefully all fixable with lots of love and tlc :)

Thank you for any help.

Bunk window.

Hi trasoph,

I would take out the bunk window and fit a wider one, that one looks a bit daft and out of place, as for window seals they very hard to get hold of so I use slotted rubber seals bought from B&Q for conservatory roof glazing.
When your are renovating these old Bedford's you have to adapt and improvise, fitting a vent of the same size but of a different make sounds fine to me.

Hello trasoph
For rubber seals google coh-baines and have a look at their site to see if you can find a suitable size profile that will do the job. Your bunk window will need replacing sooner or later but as a stopgap clean up the window and the rubber. If you have a dremmel or similar then v the cracks and fill sparingly with epoxy resin. Stick masking tape over the resin to prevent it sagging. You will need to clean tape off with a small blade after it has fully cured. seal the window into rubber using a window sealer from an auto factor or plumbers sanitary silicon. With regard to the vent make sure any replacement will fit the thickness/depth of your existing roof.

Regards Andy
