Oil pump.

Hi to all,

Due to the age old problem of slow oil pressure pickup on starting I am looking into possibly using an electric oil priming pump which runs off 12 volts and can be controlled through a switch in the dash-board, once the engine is running can be switched off to allow the mechanical engine driven oil pump to continue oil circulation.

Hi Doug

Fitting a re-conditioned oil pump from Gryphon Engineering made a massive difference to mine. The pressure will come up in 3 or 4 seconds even if its been stood for a few weeks now.

The Gryphon chaps contact info is in the forum here somewhere but I can provide it direct to you if you need it.

Oil Pumps.

Hi Mike,

Yes I have the info on that company but the truth is my old Bedford could do with a bottom end rebuild, when I had the head off to do it up last year I measured the bore ware and was amazed to find only 2.009 thou of ware in at least a hundred thousand miles.
But the bottom end is beginning to show signs of that mileage so I have been looking at cheap ways of keeping the old lady on the road for a while, or until I am really in need of something to keep me busy.
I hope all is well with you guy's, I still have that prop-shaft centre mount for you.

Engine crane investment.

Hi o all,

Because of my plans to renovate my ageing slant four engine I have bought an engine crane, always managed to borrow one in the past but I spotted a price drop on them and thought it was time I had one of my own.
Might not get used until next year sometime but it will make life a lot easier on my ageing bones.

Engine crane.

Hi to all,

Engine crane assembled and working in spite of one missing bolt, stored away for future use, I had one in my own workshop years ago but sold it off along with a lot of garage equipment back in the early nineties.
But this one is cheaper than the price I paid back then and a much stronger piece of gear.

Oil Pump new seals.

Hi to all,

Having removed striped and checked the old oil pump I decided to fit thicker oil seals with two extra seals against the base of the pump so that they are compressed against the casting of the block when popped back into the block,
and this seems to have do the job but not getting a chance to take the Bedford for a nice long run the real test is yet to come.
