2.3 slant factory unleaded?

Hello. Does anyone know if they ever produced a 2.3 slant at the factory to run on unleaded. I have a spare engine which I pulled from an 87 registered cf. If I remember that was the year the UK went over to unleaded so did GM change specifications prior to event?... Not holding my breath on this as that was final year of the cf .

Regards Andy

They stopped using the 2.3l slant petrol during 1984. It was replaced by the 2.0l petrol. They did use a 2.3l diesel but it wasn't a slant. You can see the 1986 brochure HERE

That will be a no then

Thanks for the replies. Resounding No......... I will now have to decide if I want to strip the engine to have the valve seats replaced or carry on with the additive. The engine has 45k on it and ran lovely, kind of reluctant to disturb it. I will buy some more slick 50 for the existing engine and have a ponder.

Unleaded.

Hi Beigedengy,

My own old Bedford has been running on unleaded fuel most of the seven years I have owned it, only started to use additive last summer.
The head has been off and valves and seats checked clean up and lapped back in seat and valve faces showed on damage at eighty thousand miles and has now done over a hundred thousand miles.
Having worked in an engineering shop for quite a few years I quite often saw the damage done to an engine when an insert dropped out damaging both head bore and piston, so I was in on rush to have my old Bedford done.
