Temp.sender.

Hi Guy,

I have made up a temp-sender unit which replaces the plain thermostat housing top cover which works very well, the only time it switches on the cooling fans is in traffic or when you stop after a long journey.
The colder through flow of Scottish air does the rest, if you are interested in this small upgrade I can make one up and send it down.

Temp sender.

Hi Guy,

In my own case I have removed the thermostat after replacing the radiator and still overheating in traffic, done away with the belt driven fan and fitted an electric fan off of a Renault 5.
The fan is controlled through a fuse by the thermal switch which is threaded into the thermostat housing cover, so two bolts and a gasket with some sealant, a wire supplying power to the switch and a wire from the switch to the electric fan motor and it is installed.
If you send me your address I will post the housing fitted with the switch all you will need is a gasket and some sealant.

Temp. sender.

Hi Guy,

A temp. sender mounted into the top of a thermostat cover is on its way down to you, you should have it by Tuesday.
It is the same as I have fitted to my own Bedford to control the cooling fans so I know it works and if you connect it to the fuse box under the bonnet of your Bedford on a battery live terminal not a ign, fed one the fans will cut in and continue to run after the engine is switched off until the engine has cooled and then switch off.

Temp sender.

Hi Guy,

Because of where it is mounted it will bring on the fan at engine temp and not Radiator temp, it will run on after you have switched the engine off until it brings down the temp.
On the move it will only cut in if you are stuck in traffic a helpful tip is not to be too close to the vehicle in front when sitting in a line of traffic because you will draw in heat from the motors in front.
Let me know how you get on, the same set up has been working on my own Bedford now for about three years.
