MOT time is looming.

Hi to all,

The Bedford MOT is due on the 15th of March so as soon the this snow stops I have a lot of checking over to get done, during this week of snow I have checked out all is working on the inside and all is working as it should.
So it is tyres brakes lights steering exhaust and chassis, once that is done I will risk an MOT test and hope to get through another season.

Shopping for a new testing station.

Hi to all,

Due to illness my normal testing station cannot take my Bedford for its test this March so I have been shopping around some of my old garage connections to find someone who will test a group 7 vehicle of the age mine is and honour the emissions levels allowed for older vehicles.
As it seems not all testing station do, so I have spoken to one guy I know from my engineering past and he has said he applies that exemption rule for any vehicle over twenty years old.

Bad choice.

Hi to all,

My choice of another MOT testing station was a disaster, I have never seen a guy so fond of his hammer at one point I had to say to him if you take a 33 year old piece of steel which has been subjected to our weather and you hit it long enough and hard enough you will create a hole.
Which is what he managed to do so I now have some welding to get done and ten days to get the camper back to him, just in time for the weather to turn back to winter, lovely!

The old Bedford passed.

Hi to all,

On the second attempt the Bedford has passed its MOT test for another year, welding done and brakes freed off after sitting for five months.
So we get ready for another season of rallies and visits to other parts of the country.

Retesting.

Hi to all,

In my day of MOT testing a retest checked the failure points and recommended points that should get some attention, but this guy went back over the whole vehicle with his trusty hammer.
Probably sleeps with it under his pillow!!

Lazy brakes..

Hi to all,

The MOT showed up what I would call lazy rear brakes so I have picked up two old stock Bedford rear brake cylinders to replace them, a change of brake fluid to DOT 4.5 can be done at the same time.
Old fluid contains moisture which will reduce efficiency and lower the boiling point of the fluid,
