Kelso rally.

Hi to all,

My first rally for this year on the 20th of May so just making sure everything is working, might get away before then for a short journey just to slow all the traffic down a bit.

Weaher forecasts.

Hi to all,

Just about a month till the first rally and the weather is still cold and wet, forecast said it is going to warm up next week but I doubt if they really know what they are talking about.
Maybe May will Trump and Putin some nuclear heat before the end of the month, that could spoil all the hopes of controlling global warming!

Rallies booked.

Hi to all,

Why is it that every year as soon as I have rallies booked and the Bedford MOT'd I get someone wanting to buy my campervan, on Sunday this guy who has been interested before reappeared at the door to see if I had changed my mind.
But like all the rest in the past he does not think it is worth very much and when I say three and a half he is thinking in hundreds and I in thousands!

First road trip of the season.

Hi to all,

Planning to take to the road for the first time this season this week just to make sure all is well with the old Bedford after its tough MOT at the hands of Barrie the hammering knome with the hatred for old vehicles.

Entrance tickets.

Hi to all,

This morning the tickets arrived for the Kelso rally on the 19th of May, let's hope the weather gets a bit kinder by that time.
Already have a list of oils additive's and parts that I maybe able to pick up down on the borders.

The next journey.

Hi to all,

Just the food stuff to be loaded on Friday morning and I am all set for the trip south to the Kelso rally, since the 250 mile test run to the west coast throw up on problems let's hope all will go well on this round trip of 200 miles.
Hoping to show some vintage toys as Kelso as they have a section for that kind of stuff, the old Bedford will not win any prizes but it will be in the good company of some really good examples of the Bedford era.
And if the weather stays good it will be a great show.

Kelso.

Hi to all,

The Kelso rally was a good weekend with great weather and a very good turn out of vintage vehicles and over a hundred tractors and farm machines, the stalls however were much fewer than other years.
But still managed to pick up a few parts and tools, engine oils were a bit too pricey at £24 for a gallon when I can buy it on line for £50 for 20 LTS with free delivery, so just ordered it when I came home.
The old Bedford managed the journey but the repair to my speedo cable gave out
so I will need to find a new inner cable somewhere.

Hi Doug, I'll not be attending any rallies this year my van is off the road due to the rear axle having retired after giving 38 years service

Axle.

Hi Crawford,

That's a shame last month there was a guy in Crieff scraped one the same as yours, MOT failure and it would have been a Salisbury axle.

Hi to all,

The next rally is Moffat on the 20th of June, there should be a few more Bedford's at this one just three at Kelso but if the weather stays with us it will make for a good weekend.

Bedford axle.

Hi Crawford,

There in lay's your problem would a Salisbury axle off of a Landrover measure up?
Adapting one would be worth the work, was the first axle your camper had not a Salisbury?
Mine is the same facelift model as yours and it has a Salisbury axle, when you change it a while ago when it seized?

Bedford on facebook.

Hi Crawford,

There is a Bedford CF pop-up roof type on facebook for £350.00, looks a bit rough but might have a good rear axle it is a 250 with a 2.3 petrol engine maybe worth a look.

my camper had the bedford axle fitted since new, will wait until a axle turns up or i get someone to repair it, in the meantime I've bought/rescued another cf motorhome (sailsbury axle) which has been in a local garage for the past year while the owner decided to continue spending money to repair or scrap it, the garage has fitted a new injector pump but it still doesnt run right lots of smoke & no power, if it needs a engine i just happen to have in my shed
