A slow start.

Hi to all,

Making a slow start to pre-MOT checks in the hope of getting another year out of my old Bedford, not turned a wheel on the road for a long time now so we will see how it fairs in a few weeks time.
There is a lot of new strict requirements added to the test but how much of them apply to the older classic vehicles will greatly depend on the testers understanding and interpreting the new rules.

Booked with a prayer.

Hi to all,

Taxed and insured and MOT booked today for the 9th of June so here we are living in hope of a pass and getting away for a few days, bit sluggish on its first run out today.
Some fresh petrol and fourteen miles of tarmac under its wheels after a brake check all seems to be going well.

Failure,

Hi to all.

Well my best efforts were not enough to get a pass at MOT, some welding in a wheel arch and a top wish bone bush found on these shaker plates, and a oil leak that was seen as ok last year was not this year.
So bushes are ordered and repair plates are cut, a new camshaft gasket should take care of the oil leak, not too bad for a forty year old Bedford with high mileage.
And this will be its last MOT, exempt next year.

Thursday is day one.

Hi to all,

After a bit of welding and some upper wish-bone bushes and an oil leak at the back of the cam-box, the retest success was a great relieve and the last test required as the Bedford enters the classic class proper at over forty tears old.
All I need now is the freedom to travel and enjoy!
