Hello all ..... New to all this !

Hi

I'm Richard and I live on the Hampshire coast with my wife Kathy, two daughters - Lauren (10) and Charlotte (nearly 9). Also, our dogs - a German Shepherd and a Jack Russell Terrier.
We decided to graduate up from camping in tents and have recently acquired a 1984 Bedford CF 250, 2.3 ltr petrol, 4 berth van as our first venture into this.

Just had our local garage do a full service on her and they have remarked on what a good solid van, in sound condition it is - both mechanically and in terms of the body and interior.
Re-assurance indeed, as I am certainly no mechanic myself !
We do know something of it's history though - we have have seen every MOT certificate going back to the beginning, along with all the bills for repairs, servicing etc., which show the the mileage of 45,000 to be genuine. We know that it has spent the bulk of it's life owned by a local well-heeled farmer who kept it in dry store - in a large barn and mostly only used it to visit various musical festivals through the year.
We are now looking forward to many day trips and holidays in her !:D

BTW - can any of you experienced guys tell which company built the body ?

Hello Richard, welcome to the board. Looks like a tidy van you have there. Do you have any trips away planned, or are you going to keep the van packed and ready for when the opportunity arises to get away?

Welcome to the site Richard.
If you go back to the site index, and click on " A brief history of the CF", you will see a mention of original sales brouchers.
Click on that, and you can probably find your one there.

Cheers guys .
Ed-don - To answer your question, we've just got back from a few days away ! Not far - just along the coast a bit in Dorset. Our first 'proper' camp out in the van and all went well. We are returning there at the end of May.:D

I'm new too! Hi

Hi everyone. I thought I'd say a quick hello. I pick up my 1984 CF Holdsworth tomorrow evening and I'm so excited. I must admit (as I'm used to driving new Japanese motors)I think the 40 mile journey on the M3 will leave me with stiff steering wheel fingers though! I have read a few posts and I seem to be in the company of a few south coast "newbies" I'm in south hampshire so hi to all in Hampshire and West Sussex (Lancing).
My first job will be to get rid of the awful hubcaps on my lovely girl and replace them with something more original, any ideas where I can get them ? Any advice would be good.
I'll keep watching and checking to see if there are any meets close enough for me to attend because I would love to see other campers and conversions. Regards all, Melissa

What have you got on now ???

There's been a set of chrome steel hub caps on eBay they had a starting price of around £90.00 .
