As I have just joined this group I thought I had better introduce myself.
My name is John Lingley and I live near Diss in South Norfolk. I have just bought a 1979 CF1 ambulance via e-Bay (Don't ask me what it's like, I haven't picked it up yet, anyone fancy a drive from Alnwick to Norfolk) No doubt some of you will have spotted it on there, it's the very unusual maybe even unique, one with the modular box body.
I am new to CF's although I drove several CF minibuses in Army days however I am Bedford through and through, in the last 12 years I have had 3 TK's and a TL, all fire engines but I have decided to downsize a bit but it had to be a Bedford. Having had a look through the many postings it is good to see such a wealth of knowledge out there, even though I hope I never have to use it. Any questions on fire engines and I'm your man though..........

As they say in this part of the world.....NORFOLK AND GOOD

Hi John,

Are you planning to convert the ambi to a camper or are you going to restore it for shows etc. ? I would love to have something like a TK or a TL, a Plaxton or one of the other coaches but I think I would end up in the divorce courts !

Big thumbs up for joining the club straight away - if only more people did we'd be able to do a lot more.

Cheers

Thanks for your greetings guys, can't understand all this business about creosote though, unless it's just to waterproof the sheep-proof fences........

This CF is very much going to stay as an ambulance, it will join our working fleet of fire engines for displays and will be used as an onsite ambulance/first aid unit when we do fire cover. I hope the restoration is mainly done I'm reliably informed it has been. (I will be kipping on a trolley though when at shows. saves towing the caravan about.)

Now if I can get the system to work there should follow some photies of the new toy plus one of the TL. Any takers, offers on the back of an envelope accepted........

I hope these wet your appetites a bit.

Hi John. I'm very pleased and releived to read that you intend to keep this as an Ambulance. I have known this vehicle since its design stage, along with all its operational working life. It will be good to see it around as a display vehicle and not converted to a camper. This is the only remaining vehicle off two.
It would be nice to know what events you take your vehicles to, maybe you can keep the site posted.

Roi,

Unfortunately we are all at Strumpshaw Steam Rally, here in Norfolk over the Bank Holiday weekend. (Usually a good show if any of you are that way, 5 miles east of Norwich) The CF won't be there though as I doubt I will have picked it up by then. The TL will be though with a big 'For Sale' sign on it, I listed it on eBay yesterday as well.
Anyway Roi I couldn't have come to Llandudno as my passport has run out...........

Regards
John

The new toy has now arrived at long last, I was startig to wonder if was ever going to turn up. I'm a bit disappointed with it, a lot more rust than I was expecting, but then that's one of the 'joys' of eBay. It's not so bad that I can't rally it for the rest of the season but it will need a serious Mig attack during the winter.

Regards

John
