Ready to hit the road.

Hi to all,

I think I am now just about ready to hit the road with this six month investment of my money and time, still some niggley bits to iron out but hope to do that on the road.
I hope to pick up a spare gearbox in the near future and find the money to rebuild that spare engine I have sitting on my workbench.
But very pleased with progress so far apart from one small oil leak the present engine is now running well, fuel consumption is very good and timing tappeds and points and plugs are spot on.
So a big improvement when I think back to that hairy journey home from picking it up in Livingston, still got few bodywork jobs to get done but I will tax the old shed at the end of the month for the first of May.
So get ready to say what the hell was that! ( laying in that lay-by with the bonnet up.)

Doug.

Congratulations Doug, looks like you'll be on the road before me. When I get back on the road, most Sunday's we're at Errol, so if you see my van, don't be shy.

Towing costs.

Hi to all you guy's,

And thanks for the kind words, but if you see a white and blue striped Bedford campervan with the reg, JYU 388W sitting in a lay-by make sure you have a tow rope handy.
On second thoughts I will carry one so you can just hook up, between fits of laughter, the roof has been painted with a black sealant so I can write help clearly on the roof.
Handy for air sea rescue, see I have thought of everything! (I hope).
