Another new boy

Hello. Just joined. We have a 1977 CF1 250, ex ambulance, now a camper. Had all the neighbours laughing when she arrived, being green and hand painted, but we will get her back on the road somehow. I did my apprentiship on CF's and TK's back in the 70's but not touched one since. Looking forward to it.....! (I think).

Laughing is easy.

Hi and welcome to the club,

You should have heard some of the comments I got when I brought my old shed home, some are still laughing yet.
But I had my first weekend away with the shed last week, and the comments have changed to when can we borrow it.
So it has turned from a white elephant into a cheap holiday when ever I like to get away and see some of my own country.
Seen too much of other people's and not enough of my own, anyway I am quite sure you will prove them all wrong in the next few months.

Doug.

Having a laugh

Welcome to the Beddy club

There are those who laugh and point nearly every time we venture out in ours. We get used to it and even wave back sometimes.

Nice to put a smile on peoples faces!

Welcome aboard most of us tend to laugh at ourselfs not our vans that have outlasted a fair amount of modern rubbish. You have made a wise investment that with care should last you for years.

I think I am going to like it here! Thanks all. I have just had a really good look around the CF and have a plan (in the loosest possible sense of the word). I could take the whole thing to bits and not use it for years, OR concentrate on the cab, get the welding done (although I think the doors are beyond help) sort the mechanics and get it MoT for perhaps the second half of summer. And use it!! Then maybe do more over winter. I will post some pics soon when I have stripped the cab so you can see what I am talking about!

Im trying to get 'Bedford CF owner' on my medical records. It would save breaking so many psychiatrists...:o

Just make sure you smile ananely every time you fill up with fuel- making loud comments about 'a full tank should just about get you the 12 miles home', then driving off to expose the random collection of scrap metal you've dropped on the forecourt!

Enjoy it- and learn to develop a nervous tic accompanied by demonic cursing whenever you see a VW![bat]

Welcome.
The best thing about a CF is the amount of fun you can have for very little money.
People say to me why not sell it and buy a newer one but I just cant get anything else for such a low budget, they are the best value for money campers around
