I think that maybe the model that my 'partner in camping trouble' has. Not sure of the conversion though. A 1985 diesel engine. She has had a few major problems with rot through the fibreglass frame and into the woodwork. Luckily her husband was able to replace it all otherwise it would have been a right-off. Problems also with gear linkage snapping and apparently the engine mounts are a weakness in these models, or so she has been told, so she is going to get them replaced as a matter of course. We've also experienced her starter motor failing, exhaust falling off, holes in on-board water tank, water pump not working, heater not working and many a problem with her 'fancy' loo. But it's all good fun

these are the people you need to be friendly to.....they produce repair panels as well as their own design gear linkage mod to make gear changing a lot easier....

no connection with them myself - just through being a customer in the past....

Thanks for the tip.
I have had a quick look at the gear linkage and I am hoping to manufacture all the wear parts and sell them at a small profit just to cover the tooling costs, as loads of these are about some worth a lot of money and no linkage parts are available.
I am quite shocked at how difficult parts are to get.
As I did with the CF if anything comes along and I have room in the garage and the price is right I will buy it just in case, we have all turned down stuff then needed it.
I have just bought an engine from Ebay though for £1.20

;D

Yes my heart was in my mouth changing these, how do they seal the tubes in to the head so oild dosnt leak around the plugs?
Once I found a plug socket that would fit down the hole and taped it to an extension it was easy

The tubes are part of the head near enough & there's not much oil hangs around on the top of the head anyway. The rubber ring seals between the tubes & rocker cover can leak though; best fix is a set of seals when renewing the rocker cover gasket (also rubber).

Old Renault Mechanic.

Hi Winchman,

A wee tip about these plug tubes, I always used a piece of washer tube pushed onto the top of the spark plug long enough to lower the plug down into the hole, then use the tube to turn the plug until it picks up a thread or two.
Then pull of the tube and use a plug spanner, for one you will be unlikely to cross thread the plug in the head, and two if they drop down the tubes into the head you can unknownly close down the plug gaps.
